A cultural and festive atmosphere

Bubbling with life and activity, Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve offers the charm of the countryside with all the advantages of a modern city and an exceptionally friendly atmosphere. A host of events take over the streets and squares throughout the year, including festivals, the 24 hour student bike festival (les 24h vélo), the Christmas market and many more !

The students are no strangers to this festive atmosphere. Every evening, student events are organised by the circles or regionals. They also participate actively in city entertainments during term time, organising several open events, like the Welcome Spring! Festival, the beer festival (la brassicole), the Doudou, processions, concerts and children’s activities, mostly held on Wednesday afternoons.

A show or a film ?

Molière, Fédo, Offenbach … just a few of the famous names who rub shoulders with unique theatrical works in Belgium and elsewhere in the world!
The Jean Vilar Workshop Theatre with its two auditoriums, the Ottignies Cultural Centre and the great hall of the Aula Magna stage many shows every year.

If you’re not a theatre fan, go and see a film at the Cinéscope ! This state-of-the art cinema is the first in Belgium to be entirely equipped with digital technology. The picture and sound are of the best quality.

Besides a broad programme schedule, a wide range of activities are on offer :
